School Description
Warren County High School is a public four-year high school enrolling 1790 students in
grades 9 through 12. WCHS has 420 seniors in the Class of 2024. The district is
economically challenged yet rich in its commitment to providing opportunities for
Warren County youth. The district consists of five K-8 elementary schools, three K-5
schools and one 6-8 middle school. Warren County High School is the only public high
school in the county; a small number of high school students attend the Warren County
Connect Virtual High School. The student body is 71% Caucasian, 21% Hispanic, 6%
Black and 2% Other. 75.9% of WCHS students are classified as economically
disadvantaged.
Community
Warren County is located in the foothills of the Cumberland Plateau in Middle
Tennessee; the county has a total area of 434 square miles. The county lies along
the Eastern Highland Rim and has a population of 40,953 people. Warren County
is classified at “At Risk” by the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC). Warren
County is a very rural county with agriculture being a primary industry.
The Academic Program
Designed to motivate and challenge all students, the academic program at Warren
County High School is driven by equity and the highest possible learning expectations
for students. Our proficiency-based learning and graduation policies ensure that all
students leave as well educated, carrier driven, successful citizens with high
expectations.
During their high school career, students have access to a wide range of learning
experiences, including advanced placement courses, dual-enrollment opportunities at
local colleges, statewide and local dual credit courses, and a plethora of CTE courses.
All learning experiences are academically rigorous and intended to prepare students
for success in college, career, and citizenship.
Highlights of the Academic Program:
● Students take rigorous courses in English, mathematics, science, and social
studies throughout their four years of high school.
● Dual-enrollment (early college) courses are available to all students
● Internships/Work Based Learning Experiences are available to all students
through established school-community partnerships with local businesses and
organizations.
● Advanced Placement courses in English Language and Composition, English
Literature and Composition, Statistics, Calculus, American History, United
States Government and Politics, Macroeconomics, Chemistry, and Biology, are
open to all tenth through twelfth grade students.
● Project-based learning is embedded throughout the curriculum, and most
courses engage students.
● All students participate in the Ayers Foundation Trust college-career advising
program that includes 1-1 advising and visits to local college campuses.

A weighted GPA is also calculated on each student and included on transcripts using

Warren County High School also provides an unweighted 4.0 GPA.
CLASS RANK
Due to the nature of students' ability to enroll in Honors/NIC/EPSO classes, we do not
rank students numerically. Instead, we use individual unweighted GPAs to recognize
students using a Latin Honor System.
LATIN HONORS SYSTEM
Students are recognized according to the Latin Honor System based on their
cumulative weighted GPA; for Latin Honors, students must have a 21 ACT Composite
as well specific course requirements in addition to set GPAs to graduate with Latin
Honors.
