TN College Application & Exploration Month

September 5-8, 2023

September is College Application and Exploration Month in Tennessee.  The goal of this event is to build excitement and knowledge around the college application process at all grade levels and provide every graduating senior with an opportunity to apply to college. This week we want to focus on the Tennessee Promise.  Seniors, we want to make sure 100% of you have completed your TN Promise applications.  If you haven't done this yet, see your AYERS counselor this week to get that done.   We want all students to know that TN PROMISE is for all students who graduate high school; it provides 2 years of tuition and mandatory fees to community colleges and TCATS to ensure that everyone has access to education after high school.  Applications for TTU admissions are FREE the entire month of September!

#WHYAPPLY2023

September 11-15, 2023

This week the College App and Exploration Month theme is WHY APPLY?  Seniors are encouraged to meet with their AYERS counselor to discuss future plans if they have not yet and make a list of universities, community colleges, TCATS, and other programs that they would like to apply to.  We encourage all seniors to apply to one of local community colleges or TCATS this week and make a list of other colleges/programs they would like to apply for.  Most 4 year universities in TN will offer FREE Applications next week.  Remember:  you aren't committing to any college, you are applying to open doors to any you could be interested in.  Underclassmen can start to think about where they might like to go after high school! We have 2 bus loads of seniors touring MTSU on Wednesday, September 13!

College Application Week

September 18-22

This week is College Application Week!   It's time to seniors to submit applications to any TN Colleges they want to consider while applications are FREE at most colleges!   Seniors:  your AYERS REMIND has a link to FREE College Applications as well as how to videos.  You can also stop by and see your AYERS counselor for help with college apps.  We encourage you to apply for all colleges you are considering!  You can make your final selections later on after you see what each college offers you!   MTSU is visiting WCHS during lunch on Tuesday, Sept. 19; MTSU offers FREE applications Sept. 18-22.  Many other TN Colleges including the Universities of Tennessee at Knoxville, Chattanooga, Martin and Southern and many others.  Stop by the AYERS office to let your counselor know where all you have applied!

I've Applied Now What?

September 25-29

This week our theme is "I Applied, Now What?"  There are a couple of thing seniors need to do:

1. Seniors will need to submit a transcript request to Mrs. Leah Simpson through her google classroom to have transcripts sent to all colleges you have applied to; make sure and do this this week!

2.  Seniors will want to apply for scholarships at all colleges you applied for admission to!  See your Ayers counselor for help with this if needed.   Make sure and do this for every college you are remotely considering.

3.  Celebrate those admissions as you receive them!  Stop by the AYERS office with your admission letter so they can place a copy in your file and celebrate with you!

And, all students and parents are invited to the WCHS College Fair on Monday, Sept. 25 from 4-6PM!
